Share TweetBy Francis WakefieldAmbassador Sung Kim presented 13 Filipino World War II Veterans with bronze replicas of the Congressional Gold Medal at the U.S. Embassy in Manila on Sept. 13, marking the first time the honor has been presented on Philippine soil. The 13 Filipinos who received the award are: Col. Paterno V. Viloria, of the Luzon Guerrilla Army Forces – Hq and Hq Svc Co. Central Nueva Ecija Military Area; Pvt. Congress passed the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act in November 2016 and President Obama signed the bill into law in December of the same year. The regional ceremonies will give veterans and their families the opportunity to honor and celebrate the wartime service and sacrifices of Filipino Veterans of World War II.
