13 Ethiopian Artefacts Stolen By British Soldiers In 1868 Return Home. See Photos


Most of these artefacts were plundered by British soldiers after they defeated Emperor Tewodros II in the Battle of Magdala in 1868. The items reached Addis Ababa from the United Kingdom over the weekend, and will go on display in the country’s museums, according to reports. “We couldn’t manage to bring back all of them, but this is the first time in the country’s history to bring back looted artefacts in this quantity."
