The fire is said to have started in a critical care unit early this morning in Vijay Vallabh hospital, in Mumbai, India. There were 90 patients in the hospital at the time, 18 of them in the ICU when the fire broke out. Health officials across northern and western India, including the capital, New Delhi, said they were in crisis, with most hospitals full and running out of oxygen. Medical oxygen and beds have become scarce with major hospitals putting notices they had no space to take in patients.
