113 interim govt ordinances set for approval as 20 put on hold in parliament

A special parliamentary committee has recommended that 20 out of 133 ordinances issued by the interim government, including those concerning referendums, enforced disappearances, recruitment of judges and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), should not be converted into law immediately. On Thursday, the committee submitted its report to parliament, recommending that 98 ordinances be passed as bills without any changes, while 15 others be introduced with specific amendments. Out of the 20 ordinances sidelined for now, the committee proposed that four be repealed and held in abeyance. Any interim government ordinance not approved by parliament by Apr 12 will automatically lapse. The ordinances put on hold cover several other issues, such as the National Human Rights Commission, and the Supreme Court Secretariat.
