Officials said they caught 11 people in Sham Shui Po this morning who couldn't prove they had taken Covid tests as ordered. The government said that during a morning operation at Cheong Yuen Building on 1-9 Yen Chow Street in Sham Shui Po, police and officials checked the test records of around 250 residents and found 11 had violated a recent compulsory testing notice. Fines of HK$5,000 and new testing orders were dished out to the alleged offenders, requiring them to undergo testing within a specified period. They have also been warned that non-compliance can lead to a larger fine of HK$25,000 and six months in prison. A government spokesman said the authorities understand that the enforcement process may cause some inconvenience to the residents, but hopes that the residents can understand.
