An 11-member committee has been formed to help the state prepare the filing of a review petition against the scrapping of the 16th amendment to the Constitution by the Supreme Court, which nullified the parliament’s power to remove sitting judges. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune on Friday. “Right now the committee members are compiling and analysing various legal data related to the 16th amendment verdict,” the attorney general said. Asked when the committee was formed, he said: “The committee was formed quite a few days ago. The minister said they were giving a close reading and that the review petition would be filed after proper scrutiny of the text.
