After bringing in a new panel of 225 fresh lawyers, the Legal department of Brihanumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received an encouraging response from 11 law firms, who have shown interest to work with the richest civic body of the country. In order to tide over 60,000 pending cases across all courts in the state and even in Supreme Court, the BMC has decided to hire law firms, for which it had invited applications from law firms. Nidhi Chaudhary, deputy municipal commissioner (Special) said, "We have received a good response from law firms and a panel will be set up to choose one of them." "The panel will go through the track record of the law firm — number of cases it won and the important cases it had handled," said Chaudhary. "Since the BMC has been bringing in law firm first time, we will check credentials of the law firm that will be brought in legal team panel," said Chaudhary.
