This will bring the number of teachers so far trained since introduction of the competency-based curriculum (CBC) to 228,000. Last April, 91,320 teachers were trained to handle grades one to three, another 68,490 were trained in August. According to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, the training will ensure that teachers are well prepared. Meanwhile, tutors have asked the government to hire more teachers to ensure smooth implementation of the new system. On Wednesday, Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary-General Wilson Sossion said the government has been rushing implementation of system.
