The Government has decided to purchase 1,000 buses for the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB). Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Gayantha Karunatileka addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing today said that all these buses will be 40-46 high back seaters. Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has presented this proposal to the Cabinet and it has been approved. He has also briefed the Cabinet of Ministers that the making available of an efficient and confident service may attract many of those private vehicle users to such a public transportation. The Minister also revealed that they have thought of a bus-train integrated service and the Government of India makes the financial support over the bus purchase
