ALOR STAR: The Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) today seized 100 packets of 1kg polybag cooking oil from a noodle factory in Tongkang Yard here. KPDNKK state enforcement chief Shahrudin Hamzah said the noon operation was carried following a public tip-off. “We have seized the cooking oil worth RM250 as the factory operator, in his 50s, failed to produce a permit to keep that amount of the subsidised essential item,” he said in a press statement. Shahrudin said the case was being investigated under the Control of Supply Act 1961 which carries a maximum fine of RM1 million and a two-year jail term for individual, while the company can be fined up to RM3 million.
