(CNN) Ski lifts, like skiers, come in all shapes and sizes, with varying degrees of technical merit, but only a few have the X factor. Here are 10 ski lifts that put the "X" into extreme, and give as good an experience going up as gravity does on the way down. Lone Peak tram, Big Sky, MontanaBig Sky's Lone Peak Tram. The Lone Peak Tram revolutionized the expert ski scene at Big Sky when it was built in 1995. Big Sky's acquisition of neighbouring Moonlight Basin in 2013 made it the largest ski resort in North America with 5,750 acres of terrain and over 30 ski lifts.
