PONTIAN: A total of 1,710 police rank and file members will be on duty to maintain public order and security at the Tanjung Piai by-election. He said among their tasks will be at the polling stations, maintaining security on nomination day and at the vote counting centres. “We have categorised the by-election into three phases; the first phase is nomination day, the second is the campaign period, and the third phase is polling day. The nomination day for the by-election is Nov 2 while polling is on Nov 16. The by-election is being held following the death of Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik last month.
