(Updated) 25 injured in Singapore MRT train accident

SINGAPORE: An SMRT train knocked into a stationary train at the Joo Koon MRT station today, resulting in 25 passengers getting injured, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). “SCDF resources are at the scene attending to the injured,” it said in a post on its Facebook page. The Joo Koon MRT station is on the East-West Line. It said that to minimise the congestion, free regular bus services had been provided for the Yellow Line as well. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) system forms the major component of the railway system in Singapore, spanning the entire city-state.
