Popular girl group Twice has positioned itself in the tough Japanese market by selling more than one million albums. According to K-Pop site Soompi, the nine-member girl group’s second Japanese single, Candy Pop, released on Feb 7, had sold more than 400,000 copies within the first two weeks of its release. Following the release of Candy Pop, the single topped the Oricon daily singles chart for six consecutive days and ranked high on the weekly chart. According to Billboard Japan, Candy Pop sold 303,746 copies in its first week and topped the Hot 100 chart by coming in first for sales, views, streams and video plays. With the record success of Candy Pop, Twice is now the first foreign artiste or group in Japan to exceed 200,000 in sales in the first week for three consecutive releases since its debut.
