KUALA LUMPUR: Amirul Hanif Mamat became an instant hero after he helped Perak to the Under-14 TNB-1Mas Boys Championship title after defeating Sabah 5-4 on penalties earlier today. After being tied 1-1 in normal time, the title decider came in the form of a penalty shootout and Amirul coolly scored the all-important winning penalty from the spot as Perak’s last penalty taker. In the final Sabah had gone ahead in the 25th minute thanks to Daniel Hakim Yusaini via a penalty corner. Perak then managed to equalise through Yusuf Hakimi Shah Ahmad just three minutes later also via a penalty corner. In the women’s competition, Penang emerged champions after narrowly beating Kuala Lumpur 1-0 thanks to Siti Nur Atika Shaikh Maznan’s penalty corner in the 42nd minute.
