North Africans giants remain firmly and literally at the pinnacle of the continent as this season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals approach. According to FootballDataBase’s quarterly ranking report, record seven-time champions Al Ahly top the standings ahead of fellow Egyptian rivals Esperance. Five-time champions league and two-time Confederation Cup Congolese winners, TP Mazembe, proudly hold a third-post rating, while 2016 champions Sundowns sit sixth. With the exception of Congo's AS Vita and the above two, the top 10 features seven clubs from North Africa. Meanwhile, Al Ahly will face Zamalek in the 2020 CAFCL final on 28 November.
