↵THE Office of Public Works (OPW) is unlikely to clawback €10m in taxpayers’ money that could be lost because officials mismeasured the floor space of the Department of Health, the chair of the Public Accounts Committee has said. “That’s where it looks like it’s heading,” Mr Stanley said when asked if it was likely €10m would be lost. The OPW entered into a 25-year lease at Miesian Plaza in 2017 on an annual rent of €10 subject to a review ever five years. Social Democrats co-leader Catherine Murphy said it was “frustrating” that the OPW was claiming it could not meet with the landlord until it was face-to-face. The OPW re-advertised the contract and awarded a three-year deal to the same company but by the end of 2019 the contract cost nearly €8m more than estimated.
