Elaine’s mother had a brain aneurysm in October 2022 and then spent the next five months in Beaumont Hospital following complications due to a rupture of the aneurysm. Shortly after her return from the hospital, Elaine’s mother was then also diagnosed with vascular dementia. A friend of my brother had used live-in carers for her mother and suggested we look into it. Elaine’s mother took a long time to grieve for her husband, as her illness would cause her to forget he had passed away, and then find herself having to endure it all over again.
