During her first visit to Egypt, Miss Universe 2016, Iris Mittenaere, exclaimed “Long live Egypt, Long live Egypt” in Arabic to express her love for Egypt and Egyptian people. “I have been longing to see Egypt since I was a child,” Mittenaere said after she arrived at Cairo airport, on Tuesday. The 24-year-old French model and beauty pageant titleholder expressed her admiration of the Egyptian civilization and Egyptian food. Mittenaere explained that she learned about Egyptian history from her father, a history teacher, who used to bring to her books of Pharaonic history and the hieroglyphic language. The former Miss Universe now works with Smile Train, an international organization that provides surgeries for children with cleft lips and palates in underdeveloped countries.
