According to Fox News, the world invariably seems to contain some combination of the following seven deadly sins:“Illegal immigrants,” i.e. The common thread that runs through all seven deadly sins is the evocation of fear and envy, the fear that the powerful – often described as “liberal elites” – are threatening “our” freedom or otherwise trying to control us, and envy that shadow forces help and support everyone else except “us”. Progressives encounter the endless, repetitive invocations of these seven deadly sins in the conservative media ecosystem and are understandably appalled and outraged. The most profound and effective response to Fox News propaganda is to alleviate the feelings of helplessness, fear and envy that so many Americans feel. Only then will people be less receptive to belief in the seven deadly sins.
