Messi and co. were at odds with Setien over the course of the season, with the Argentine unhappy with the 61-year-old's tactics. Messi believed Barcelona were regressing under Setien, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner questioned his manager's tactics. Setien is said to have responded to Messi: "If you don't like what I said, you know where the door is," prompting the Argentine to laugh. Messi opted against taking Barcelona to court, and has remained at the club this season, although his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
