The condemnation follows a national rise in hate crime following last week’s EU referendum. Detective Chief Constable Matthew Horne said: “We don’t tolerate hate crime. A number of Hate Incident Reporting Centres across Essex offer support and guidance. We can’t deal with the problem unless it is reported to us so we need anyone experiencing hate crime or knows someone who is to tell us about it.”Roger Hirst, police and crime commissioner for Essex, called incidents of hate crime “unacceptable”.
