The broken door of the flat, visible through a locked grille gate, was still to be fixed. Residents of the other flats were wary and reticent as they said they did not want to “get involved in the political mess”. Virupaksha, local BJP member, said after members raided the flat, the five people who were inside started throwing voter ID cards and other documents out of the window. “Prima facie, some cards are old; we still need to ascertain how many of the cards found in the flat are old ones. A preliminary report on the incident has been submitted to Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar,” he said.
