Cuellar said investigators have “very strong evidence” that he is responsible for the deaths of the four women working as prostitutes. “When she tried to escape from him at a gas station that’s when she ran into a (state) trooper,” Alaniz said. “The manner in which they were killed is similar in all the cases from the evidence,” Alaniz said. But both Alaniz and Cuellar declined to discuss the evidence or say how the women were killed. Ortiz was a 10-year veteran of the Border Patrol.
