‘We are behind a lot’: How provinces are catching kids up on routine vaccines


Brampton-based nurse Chantell Plunkett says that the Peel region is behind in catching kids up on vaccines against HPV, hepatitis B and meningococcal disease. Experts say that improving access to routine vaccines will make all the difference. The results won’t be publicly available until 2024, the Public Health Agency of Canada told CBC News in an email. That includes extended access into 2023 to a school-based vaccine program for students who graduated this year or last year. 19 to Zero co-chair and CEO Dr. Jia Hu said that access is ‘the biggest driving factor’ currently impacting routine school-based immunizations.
