THE medical tourism industry in Penang is set to grow even further with another private hospital group wanting to build a facility in the state. Lim Guan Eng (PH-Air Putih), who is also Finance Minister, told the state assembly that the company intends to build a “unique” hospital here. “This new hospital is being planned for outside of the city and it will be unique,” he said in his speech while debating the motion of thanks on the state governor’s opening address on Monday . “This hospital will be the largest private hospital in the country, with a gross development value of RM2bil and creating 2,000 jobs. Penang generates almost 50% of the country’s medical tourism revenue.
