We first got wind, and ultimately consciousness, of Cairo International Film Festival when the country’s “Superstar” Nora Aunor won Best Actress in 1995. This film also won Best Film for its producer Viva Films. Exactly 25 years since that honor, our country fortunately figured in winning a distinct award in another Muslim country — the Istanbul Film Awards (IFA) in Turkey. “Tutop” (Covered Candor) bagged the Best Feature Film (Horror Category) Award for RommBurlat, who starred and produced the film. “Tutop” won earlier for Burlat, who is also a director, two more international awards namely, Best Actor from Actors Awards Los Angeles; and Best Horror Film (as producer).
