Each tossed a scoreless inning as the Nationals pushed another run across in a 2-0 victory. By the next morning, the Nationals, desperate to improve the worst bullpen in baseball, had acquired Doolittle and Madson from the Oakland Athletics. The “Three Horsemen,” as Martinez called them postgame, did their jobs, and the Nationals are 1-0.
