Growing up, former “Big Brother Canada” contestant Brittnee Blair, couldn’t recall a time when she saw a wide representation of Black Canadians on reality TV. In the first eight seasons of “Big Brother Canada,” out of 117 house guests cast, only about 12 per cent identified as Black. Her 2019 victory on “Celebrity Big Brother,” an American spinoff of the popular franchise, isn’t typically counted within the main “Big Brother” canon because it only features celebrities. Jamar Lee, who was a contestant on season 8 of “Big Brother Canada,” went onto the show eager to make history. I would be over the moon, it would be so symbolic and powerful.”The finale of “Big Brother Canada” season 9 is scheduled for May 6.
