Peter Hoekstra, the new U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands, held his first news conference with Dutch media on Jan. 10, facing questions over his unsubstantiated 2015 claim about the chaos the "Islamic movement" had brought to the country. The other was the U.S. media. He then ignored multiple follow-ups, prompting one reporter to say, “This is the Netherlands — you have to answer questions.”Translation: American journalists might let you get away with this kind of fabrication and evasion, but we are tougher here in the Netherlands.
