Susan Nicholson’s life had not been easy in the years before she died. Elizabeth recalls an odd conversation that took place about two weeks before Nicholson died. Without prompting, she announced that she had told Trigg that if “anything happens” to her the “flat goes to Joe and Marc”, her sons. Of Nicholson’s death, he says: “In my opinion … accidental airway obstruction must be the least likely possibility in this case. In all the time the police had been rebuffing the Skeltons, Trigg had remained a free man.
