KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister wants the Immigration Department to speed up its investigation into four Chinese tourists detained for not having Malaysian entry stamps on their passports. Liew said the Consul-General of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide, brought the matter to her attention on Thursday. Sabah Immigration Department deputy director (operation) Hamdan Amat said the case would be referred to the state deputy public prosecutor who woulds decide whether to charge or compound the Chinese nationals. “When they wanted to depart Sabah via KKIA on Dec 17, they were stopped by an immigration officer and detained,” he said. According to Sabah Immigration Department deputy director (control) Ismail Ali, the department had formed a team to prevent such mistakes.
