‘Smoke emission’ halts MRT-3 train


A reported “smoke emission” has forced a southbound Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) train to stop between GMA-Kamuning and Araneta Center-Cubao Stations on Friday afternoon. In a service report, the MRT-3management said the train operator reported a “smoke emission” near the door at 1:42 p.m.An INQUIRER.net live video showed distressed commuters walking towards the platform of the Araneta Center-Cubao Station of the MRT-3. Citing information from the control center, the service report said the smoke was “probably” caused by the electronic components under the seats. In September 2017, an MRT-3 train stopped and offloaded passengers near Santolan-Annapolis Station after one of its seats caught fire. Narvaez said that MRT-3 Operations Director Michael Capati has boarded the affected train for inspection, and that the train is now being hauled back to the depot for further investigation.
