AP Photo/John Locher, FileTopline: The Trump administration has temporarily suspended trusted traveler programs like Global Entry for all New York residents, due to a state law allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses, but DHS critics say the move makes all travelers less safe. The legislation in question, called the Green Light Law, allows New York residents to obtain driver’s licenses regardless of their immigration status, and forbids the state government from turning over DMV records to federal officials. That’s how many New York residents are affected, according to the Washington Post. Key background: In addition to Global Entry, New Yorkers will no longer be able to enroll or renew their clearances with the NEXUS and SENTRI trusted traveler programs.
