‘Rohingya issue should be resolved soon’

“As soon as the situation in Rakhine state improves, the displaced Rohingyas should be returned to their homeland in a safe, and dignified manner. In this regard Bangladesh is working with international communities as well as the Myanmar government,” said the British envoy. High Commissioner Dickson made the remarks while talking to reporters after inaugurating the Phoenix School Sylhet, a special school for autistic children, in Sylhet city on Saturday afternoon. “Since August 2017, UK aid from British taxpayers has contributed £226 million to provide life-sustaining humanitarian assistance to almost one million Rohingya people,” said the high commissioner. Planning Minister MA Mannan, and Sylhet city Mayor Ariful Haque Choudhury also attended the function, among others.
