Typhoon “Queenie” (international name: Kong-Rey) is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Thursday night, the state weather bureau said. As of 3 p.m., the typhoon was at 680 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). ADVERTISEMENTQueenie recorded a maximum sustained winds of 125 kph and gustiness of up to 155 kph. However, the state weather bureau said Queenie’s trough will still bring light to moderate rains over the eastern section of the country as well as isolated rain showers in Metro Manila and nearby areas. Pagasa maintained its warning on sea voyages, noting it remains risky in northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, and eastern seaboards of Luzon.
