OTTAWA — It was built to withstand a nuclear bomb, but the Diefenbunker is experiencing a more mundane problem. “We are a not-for-profit museum, so updating our plumbing — toilets and things like that — does cost quite a bit of money,” she said Wednesday. “If you’ve been to the museum … you’ll have no doubt noticed the many OUT OF ORDER signs that grace our stall doors,” the Diefenbunker says in its fundraising appeal. It was declared a national historic site in 1994 and turned into a museum three years later. “Our goal is (to raise) $10,000, but however much we end up getting would be great.”Donations can be made through the museum’s Canada Helps page here.
