Rowling remains a central, beloved figure among the Harry Potter series’ still-dedicated fan base. “It’s obvious that people have this conflicted relationship,” said Andrew Slack, the co-founder of the Harry Potter Alliance and a fellow at Civic Hall Labs in New York. Slack turned to one of the most important lessons he learned from the Harry Potter books: “Our heroes are not what we think they are.
