Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro was in Dunedin, Fla., on Monday night, as part of a team delegation presenting plans for a new spring training facility to city council, so he could only follow his club’s fracas with the New York Yankees on his phone. But as fallout from the benches-clearing altercation trickled out — including potential injuries suffered by reliever Joaquin Benoit and second baseman Devon Travis — Shapiro was, naturally, unhappy. “Nothing good comes out of those situations,” he said on a conference call with reporters Tuesday. The plunking followed an exchange of purpose pitches in the opening frame when Severino drilled Josh Donaldson with an inside fastball and J.A. Happ retaliated by hitting Yankees’ third baseman Chase Headley.
