He was responding to tender appliation by the national utility to hire a debt collection agency, despite the government suspending charges until next year. A tender published on Friday called for the recovery of business debt and, depending on government policy, the eventual pursuit of overdue domestic water charges. Residential charges were suspended for nine months from July while a commission was set up to examine how Ireland should fund its water services.
