Analysts say Bangladesh may end up having to take care of an estimated 700,000 Rohingya refugees on its own if the situation does not improve. While China has a long drawn interest in Burma, I think its reiteration of Chinese support to Burma was somewhat understandable. We should convey our disappointment to the Indian authorities and try to see how we can bring on board the Chinese support in dealing with the Burmese. In the long run, what sort of economic and social burden will the Rohingya refugees create and what can Bangladesh do to handle it? Looking after more than 700,000 refugees (including the ones who came before 25 August) for an uncertain period will demand a lot of resources.
