City police fatally shot a dog during a high-risk drug operation in southwest Calgary early Wednesday in which an officer was injured and a number of drugs and cash were seized. Whenever we run into dogs at a search warrant, most will be quite passive, even breeds traditionally viewed as aggressive. “Time was of the essence and lethal force was the only option available at that time to immediately have that dog release,” Robitaille said. The first house was the “storefront” for drug sales, while the second was a “stash house,” Robitaille said. The officer tried to pull away, but the dog had locked its jaw on his arm, said Deputy Police Chief Ray Robitaille.
