A patch of southern Alberta, including Calgary, is also suffering severe drought conditions, according to the latest update. As of now, Hadwen said, the declaration of severe drought doesn’t necessarily mean catastrophe for Eastern and Central Ontario’s farmers. Most of the region had been under a moderate drought before June was accounted for. “We don’t see these rainfall deficits as frequently, and all our indicators are pointing to that level.”Much of Ontario is now experiencing moderate drought, encircling the “severe” patches near Toronto and Ottawa.
