But the more broadly heard message is negative: Nearly half the girls say Mr. Trump’s comments about women have affected the way they think about their bodies. Forty-four percent would definitely or likely vote for Mrs. Clinton if they were old enough to vote, and 15 percent for Mr. Trump. Fifteen percent said Mr. Trump’s candidacy had made them more likely to want a leadership position; 27 percent said the opposite. At Grant High School in Portland, Ore., girls tended to be reluctant Clinton supporters, having originally been Bernie Sanders fans. At Sherman County High School, in rural Moro, Ore., east of the Cascade Range where blue Oregon turns red, the girls were divided between the candidates.
