‘India expects neutral election in Bangladesh’


BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, including some top party leaders, has met the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. “She assured us that her country had been positively considering a permanent settlement of the crisis,” the BNP secretary general added. Mirza Fakhrul, quoting Sushma, said that India, as a neighbouring democratic country, also expects a neutral election to be held in Bangladesh. The meeting was also attended by senior BNP leaders including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Riaz Rahman. Various issues including Teesta water sharing, Rohingya crisis, implementation of the development projects and next parliamentary election were discussed during the 25-min-long meeting.
