Bystanders pleaded, “He’s blind, he’s blind,” but the officers called in reinforcements, with as many as eight squad cars on the scene, according to bystanders. “The more I asked him to stop breaking my finger, the more he kept breaking it,” Stephenson said. “I felt so embarrassed to be slammed down on the ground in front of so many people. “He claimed that my head bumped into his head when he was breaking my finger,” Stephenson said. They twisted the man’s arms behind his back, searched his pockets, found his ID and ticketed him for drinking in a park.
