‘I’ve been to the mountaintop!’: B.C. Green candidate awkwardly re-enacts famous MLK speech

Green Party appears to be leading the charge after a candidate reenacted the final speech of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.“I’m not fearing anyone! The speech mimicked the words, Baptist cadence and Georgian vernacular of the I’ve Been to the Mountaintop speech, King’s final public address before his 1968 assassination. In Neufeld’s mountaintop speech, he described standing atop Victoria’s Mount Douglas, from where it’s possible to see the B.C. Green Party candidate Andrew Weaver became the first green representative to be elected to a Canadian provincial legislature. Now, as party leader, polls show Weaver with a higher approval rating than either NDP leader John Horgan or premier Christy Clark.
