‘I’m disappointed in the Government – every year there’s a crisis in special needs places,’ says TD and mother Catherine Ardagh


Children give us a different perspective on life. Most parents will accept we are in fight or flight mode 24/7. My family, and many others, have an added challenge with a non-verbal autistic son. Each morning, as he heads off on his bus, I breathe a sigh of relief, knowing he will be well cared for by the teachers, staff and especially the Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) in his special school. Were it not for them, Darragh would not be in school.
