The latest edition of the annual SOYA Awards scored high in the fashion stakes with the World record holder Eliud Kipchoge ditching his signature black suit for a pure white outfit. Obiri was up against world marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei, world 3000m steeplechase champion Beatrice Chepkoech, world marathon champion Ruth Chepngetich and musclewoman Evelyne Okinyi Owala. After winning the award, Obiri was quick to point out the level of competition she was up against. The event also brought together the entire ministry of Sports led by the Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, Chief Administrative Secretary Hassan Noor Hassan and the new Principal Secretary Joe Okudo.
