Uniformed police officers marched through the streets to an arena in Barrie, Ont., where a funeral service was held for two officers killed earlier this month. Hundreds of residents also braved the cold and lined Barrie’s slush-covered streets, some saluting as the procession of officers passed by. “We are heartbroken for Annie.”Retired South Simcoe Staff- Sgt. John Chalmers praised both officers for their work ethic, compassion and dedication not only to the job but their families. Thursday’s service comes soon after two other Toronto area police funerals: the Sept. 21 memorial for Toronto police Const.
